Why take a class with Sara?

  • All supplies used in class are included!    No need to spend money on materials just to take a course (though you'll probably want to get your own to continue at home).

  • No two classes are alike! We complete a different painting in each class, so whether you're a repeat student or a newbie, you'll paint something new.

  • Classes are customized to your level. I’ll show you how to make each step harder or easier.

  • Classes are kept small (max 6 or 7 students) for more one-on-one time.

  • Sara is a passionate, encouraging teacher with over 20 years of experience as an art instructor. She will show you the joy of creating, help you prepare for troubleshooting, and teach you the language of watercolour and drawing.

Creativity is inventing experimenting, frowning, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun.

About the Class

Sara is a passionate and deeply knowledgeable teacher whose approach is grounded in the psychology of how we learn and create at our best. She consistently encourages students to shift perspective, let go of pressure, and approach the creative process with openness.

Her philosophy is simple but powerful: start with joy. Focus first on fun and play. From there, cultivate curiosity and a willingness to learn. Then, intentionally look for what’s working—because research shows we learn more effectively and create better work when we’re in a light, relaxed, and positive state.

Sara also teaches that creativity is inherently sacred, regardless of the outcome. While many people fixate on how a piece looks at the end, she emphasizes that the journey itself is what matters most.

Students are encouraged to discover their own style—what gives them life, energy, and expression.

Classes are intentionally small, Sara customizes instruction to each individual, adjusting the level of challenge to suit their needs. The result is a safe, encouraging, and inspiring environment where creativity can truly flourish.

It’s a beautiful experience—you’ll love it.

No one teacher can help you with everything you need to become a great artist. I highly recommend taking many classes from different teachers.

Mindset Book
Recommendations
Creating life-giving Art is 50% mindset and 50% technique specialty—the ability to speak the language of the medium you are working on. You may have the best painting technique in the world, but if you don't have the courage to create, and the self compassion to deal with the failure and unexpected you will not get far. If you don't know who you are or what you want to say, the ability to speak is useless. Here are some books I recommend on your journey in the arts.
Self Compassion by Kristin Neff
Power of Vulnerablity by Brene Brown
Emotional Agility by Susan David
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
Essentialism by Greg Mckeown
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
Art and Fear
by David Bayles and Ted Orland
Play by Stuart Brown
