I paint because I love to journey through lines and colour. The journey begins with initial lines and paint, opening and closing doors looking for the exact light, contrast and compositional balance until I start to see a glimmer of "magic."
Paint, watercolour, pencils, texture - these are all languages. In my art I desire to share the magical simplicities of life using these languages.

I was born in 1986 and raised in the beautiful Okanagan - Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. I come from a big, creative and encouraging family. Interesting fact about me: I’m the only daughter(!) among six brothers.

I’ve always been creative, but I didn't start painting until I took a class in school at age 12. Didn't take me long to decide this was going to be the rest of my life! From then on I took control of my own art education. I devoured every book on art techniques I could get my hands on, enrolled in as many classes as I could, and, of course, I painted constantly.

In 2009 I was a finalist for the Robert Bateman Award for furthering awareness of Canadian wildlife and nature through artistic expression. My piece was featured in the Canadian Wildlife Federation calendar.

Since then, my original artwork has been shown in local galleries in the Okanagan. Select pieces are also available for purchase throughout Kelowna. I've been a part of many a farmers and crafters market in my day, but you will reliably find me at the annual Lake Country ArtWalk, the BC Interior's largest art festival.

Landscapes, scenery, animals and flowers are my primary subjects. As I continue to push myself and experiment, I'm also really getting into digital art: children's illustrations, cartoons and portraits. Loads of fun, not enough time! I've been teaching art classes (painting, sketching, acrylic, watercolour, drawing) with the City of Kelowna since 2011. I'm absolutely passionate about teaching budding artists of all ages! My journey began with one art class - maybe yours will, too!
