I paint because I love to journey through lines and colour. The journey begins with initial lines and paint, opening and closing doors looking for the exact light, contrast and compositional balance until I start to see a glimmer of "magic."
Paint, watercolour, pencils, texture - these are all languages. In my art I desire to share the magical simplicities of life using these languages.

Bio
Sara Gagnon is an illustrator and artist creating whimsical, life-giving work that encourages self-worth, connection, and personal growth. Her illustrations are rooted in a deep desire to bring more hope, kindness, and emotional healing into the world—reminding people that they matter, that they are seen, and that goodness is worth holding onto.
Working both digitally and traditionally, Sara creates heartfelt illustrations and paintings that blend softness, storytelling, and emotional resonance. Her work often features gentle, expressive characters and affirming messages designed to uplift and comfort.
Alongside her art practice, Sara is also a teacher with over 2 decades of experience. She teaches through the City of Kelowna and has spent years working in recovery homes and psychiatric settings, using art as a tool for encouragement, expression, and healing. Supporting others in their growth and witnessing transformation is one of the most meaningful parts of her work.
Sara is also the author and illustrator of encouraging books that expand on these themes—offering gentle reminders of worth, resilience, and hope.
Based in Kelowna, British Columbia, she is continually learning and refining her craft through study, mentorship, and practice. When she’s not creating, you can find her swimming, playing water polo, dancing, or spending time outdoors—especially near water, where she feels most inspired.
